Ewald Demeyere studied at the Musicconservatory in Antwerp, where he obtained his master's degree for harpsichord in Jos van Immerseel's class in 1997.
On completion of his studies he was engaged as a teacher of harmony, counterpoint and fugue and in 2002 he succeeded Jos van Immerseel as Professor of Harpsichord there.
As a player of chamber music he has worked with, among others, Barthold and Sigiswald Kuijken and Paul Dombrecht. Since 1993 he has been a member of La Petite Bande and Il Fondamento. In July 2004 he was Guest of Honour at the Festival of Flanders Musica Antiqua in Bruges.
Ewald Demeyere has taken part in many recordings for radio and television. Among his recent CD recordings are works for harpsichord solo by T.A. Arne, W.F.Bach, J.-H.Fiocco and D.Scarlatti as well as works for flute and harpsichord by J.S. Bach and C.Ph.E.Bach (with Barthold Kuijken), all by Accent. In 2006 he founded the Baroque orchestra Bach Concentus. A double CD with orchestral suites by Johann Bernhard Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann will be released soon, also for Accent.
Ewald Demeyere is currently preparing a doctoral thesis on the Art of Fugue by Johann Sebastian Bach at the University of Antwerp.
